At Gossey Lane Academy, the achievement of our children is our number one priority. We strive to ensure that when each child leaves us that they are ready for the next stage of their educational journey. In order for us to do this, they need to be in school. We aim to achieve at least 96% attendance across the school. This is the national average figure, and whilst it appears high, have a look at what this means in real terms.
You can see that even at 95% attendance, your child will miss a lot of essential learning time. So, please ensure your child comes to school each day to receive good teaching and learning. They need to keep on track with their progress and reach their full potential!
This is our new attendance award. If your child’s class has the best attendance in a week then they will receive one of these in Monday’s assembly. One lucky child from the class will come to the front and have a big hand shake from me before receiving the class award. This also means that the class receive some extra play time.
In addition to our weekly attendance award, we have introduced the Punctual Puppy Award. This is to celebrate the class which has the most children in on time, before the registers close. As with the attendance award, the class with the best punctuality will select one child to receive the award on behalf of the class in Monday’s assembly, a big hand-shake from me and an extra few minutes play.
So far these initiatives have proven very popular and have had a positive impact on our overall attendance.
