A group of children from Year 5 and 6 visited King Edwards Grammar School for Girls in Edgbaston, to take part in an Extreme Physics Workshop. The workshop was organised by the Ogden Trust and was led by a group of Year 13 students who are studying the sciences at A Level. There were demonstrations to show how gigantic bubbles are made, how air travels, how a plasma lamp works and how different chemicals react.
On Friday 6th February 30 children from years 4 & 5 were selected to visit King Edwards Sheldon Heath School to take part in dance and music workshops. The workshops were led by the specialist teachers from KESH who supported the children through the hour and a half long sessions. The children got to choreograph and learn part of a dance from KESH’s upcoming production of The Wizard of Oz which they have shown to the rest of their classmates back at school. They were also able to perform as part of a choir and sing as a soloist during the song ‘Three Little Birds’ by Bob Marley. Helping the music teacher to change the structure of song really showed off the children’s musical knowledge. Overall the children had a great day and really got a feel for life at secondary school. A big thank you to KESH who looked after us extremely well, we cannot wait to return!
